Islamic Games Weightlifting competitions to be held in Baku, on May 12-22, started. 130 athletes from 21 countries will get on the platform. There are 51 women, 79 men among them. Azerbaijan National Team will compete with full staff- 16 persons ( 8 women and 8 men).
Today, Men in 77 kg weight category got on the platform. In this weight category, Azerbaijan is represented by Afgan Bayramov. In snatch, Afgan lifted 132 kg and could lift 165 kg, in clean and jerk.
He took the 9th place with total 297 kg (132+165) result.
In 77kg weight category, the champion was Egyptian Mahmud Mahammad with 348 kg (158+190) result. Silver medalist was Irag athlete- Farug Al-Husseyn with 320 kg (141+179) and Turkish athlete-Jalil Ardoghdu was bronze medalist with 319 kg (146+173) result.
