Azerbaijan Weightlifting Cup is held in the competition hall of Weightlifting Academy, in Shuvelan. During the competition, the General Secretary of Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation (AZE WF) told journalists that the aim is to control the preparations of the athletes, to watch the substitutes, to select the strong athletes. He added that Azerbaijani Cup was organized at a high level.
General Secretary also said that the targets of the national team, which had been sentenced to one year, remain in force:
“In 2018, we expect vital events like Summer Youth Olympic Games and World Senior Championship. We also obtained a license for the Summer Youth Olympic Games. 2017 became one of the hardest years for us. But we have tried to ensure athletes’ participation in the internal and international competitions. Of course, we had a lot of successes. We could achieve high results in Baku-2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, European Youth and Juniors Championships”.
