On December 23, International Weightlifting Tournament dedicated to National Hero Fakhraddin Shahbazov’s memory started in the competition hall of Weightlifting Academy in Shuvelan. Young and junior weightlifters born in 1997 and Under, from Sports Organizations operating in Baku and in other regions, participated in the competition organized by Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation and Baku Youth and Sports Directorate.
Winners in 56 kg and 62kg weight categories were identified. Sale Alkhasov won gold medal with a total of 195 kg (84+111) result. In 62 kg weight category, Elmaddin Huseynov got on the highest place of honorary chair with a total of 232 kg (102+130) result.
The aim of the tournament is to commemorate martyrs in the National Hero Fakhraddin Shahbazov’s personification , to promote Shahbazov’s lifeline and his sport activities among athletes and youngsters, to develop and promote weightlifting, detect the most powerful athletes and increase their skill level.
