The official opening ceremony of Azerbaijan Championship, between men, women and veterans, to be held in the competition hall of AZE WF Academy, in Shuvelan, took place. In the event, weightlifting fans, as well as, Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation (AZE WF), officials from Azerbaijan Youth and Sports Ministry, and other guests participated.
First Vice-President of AZE WF-Tofig Heydarov opened the event. He welcomed everybody and stated that this competition is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established 100 years ago. President of Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, declared 2018 as a year of Democratic Republic to perpetuate this historical past. So, we dedicated Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship to this date. Azerbaijan is one of the most developed countries in the world. Along with all areas, sport also is in the tops. The aim of this competition is to increase and improve the athletes’ skill levels, select technically trained athletes, determine the composition of National teams and to prepare for the following international competitions. We are sure that our athletes will be successful in the following competitions and represent our country deservedly in the international competitions.
The competitions were officially declared open.
Azerbaijan Republic State Anthem called out.
Then, the people who play a main role in the development of Azerbaijan weightlifting- veteran athletes, former coaches, referees and other professionals were awarded. Yuri Ryabov, Galib Babayev, Shua Huseynov, Tofig Jabrayılov, Mirze Huseynov, Vagif Zeynalov, Vagif Huseynov, Vladimir Jilyayev, Mammad Useynov, Nizami Ahmedzade and Gubad Jabrayilov were presented special prizes of Azerbaijan Championship dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
