Azerbaijan weightlifting has suffered a great loss. Well-known specialist Mammad Useynov died. He was 82 years old.
Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation expresses sorrow over the death of Useynov, who devoted his life to sports, to this work, and wishes endurance to his family.

Mammad Mir Bakhir oglu Useynov was born on January 6, 1936 in Baku. In 1960, he graduated from the Azerbaijan State Institute of Physical Culture. Veteran, who dedicated his more than 50 years to weightlifting and generally Azerbaijan sport, led National team for many years. He was also one of the first Azerbaijan referees on international and all-union categories. In 2014, he was awarded the personal grant of the President of Azerbaijan Republic for his contribution to the development of sports in Azerbaijan.

• In 2001 – Head Coach of the Azerbaijan National team, 2001-2010 – Coach.
• Member of the National Olympic Committee (2001-2009).
• For many years, he worked as assistant of the president of Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation on general affairs and became a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation.
• Referee at the World and European Championship (1983), champion of Azerbaijan (1960), repeatedly became the champion and record holder of the “Vodnik” sports society (1960-1970), double participant of international competitions (Iran 1957-1965), in 1982, 1983, and 1990 he was included in the list of 10 best referees of the All-Union Referees, and was a member of the All-Union Referees Board. Under his leadership, 17 people fulfilled the norm of the USSR Sports Master.
