The World Youth Weightlifting Championship to be held 8-16th March in Las Vegas, USA, kicked off. The members of National team are also taking part in the competition, which is attended by nearly 200 athletes from 50 countries.
Today, in 55kg bodyweight category Omar Javadov tested his power. The athlete picked up the Snatch bronze with three good lifts, finishing at 96kg. This is the first medal grabbed by Azerbaijan youth after a 7-year break in the World championships. Last time, Azer Mammadli achieved this in 94 kg competition held in Koshitse, Slovakia 2012.
Performing even weaker in Clean and Jerk, he came out to lift 115kg and was the ninth. He ended up in the fourth place in Total with 211 kg (96+115) result.
