Azerbaijan championship kicked off with women’s struggle

On May 11-12, Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship among juniors under 20 and 23 kicked off in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy. Nearly 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country take part in the competition.

Initially, the women athletes of 20 and 23 boarded the platform. Absolute winners have been determined according to the Sinclair table. In the struggle of women up to 20 years old, Sabina Azimova was gold medalist with a total of 172 kg (74+98) result and 249.5 sinclair point, while among 23 years old women Marziyya Maharramova captured the gold with 152 kg (67+85) and 233.4 point.

The aim of the championship is increasing and improving the athletes’ skill level, qualifying athletes who are technically trained and fulfilling their degree norms, determining the composition of National teams, preparing for the upcoming international competitions.
