Islamic Games Weightlifting competitions to be held in Baku, on May 12-22, started. On the first competition day, Azerbaijan is represented by Elmar Aliev, in 56 kg weight category. In snatch, Elmar lifted 103 kg. Because of injury in his hand, Aliev could lift only 130 kg, in clean and jerk. He took the 6th place with total 233 kg (103+130) result.
After the competition, Elmar Aliev gave an interview to AAAF Tv. He shared his impressions with competition. “ I had an expectation to medal! I worked hard in training and if I could show the result I made during the training, I would take at least the third place. In fact, it was sport misfortune: İn snatch, my hand was torn and I had a foot injury , in clean and jerk. I hope I will have not such bad luck in the next competitions”.
