Tarmenkhan Babayev broke two records in the European Championship!

From the 17th to 27th of October, European Junior Weightlifting Championship amid U-20-23 goes on in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. In these competitions, which have license character to 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, attend 488 athletes (206 women and 282 men) from 41 nations. Members of the Azerbaijan national team also join the struggle for medals.

Tarmenkhan Babayev, one of them, climbed to platform. He tested his power in 96kg bodyweight category of U-20. 17 years old athlete grabbed the eighth in snatch with 150kg.

Tarmenkhan performed better in clean and jerk and was fourth lifting 191kg. In the final rankings, he took the seventh with a total of 341kg (150+191).

Though Tarmenkhan Babayev competed in the junior competitions, the two results got by him were considered a European youth record. In clean and jerk, our athlete renewed the European record of 191 kg (187 kg) by 4kg, and in total (339 kg) by 2 kg at 341 kg.

Russian athlete, who played in the same weight with our athlete, updated these records 3 and 13 kg respectively.
