Tehran Mammadov took a significant lead in Azerbaijan championship

On May 11-12, Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship among juniors under 20 and 23 kicked off in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy. Nearly 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country take part in the competition.

Firstly, men in 55kg bodyweight categories have been on the platform. Gobustan athlete Tehran Mammadov surpassed all his competitors and took a significant lead with 196 kg (90+106). The next places were clinched by Ismayil Mammadov with a total of 190 kg (86+104) and Avaz Taghiev with 176 kg (80+96) result.

The aim of the championship is increasing and improving the athletes’ skill level, qualifying athletes who are technically trained and fulfilling their degree norms, determining the composition of National teams, preparing for the upcoming international competitions.
