In September 13-14, Azerbaijan Weightlifting Juniors Championship started in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy. More than 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country take part in the competition.
Firstly, women have been on the platform. In groups of U-20-23, the winners were set according to the Sinclair schedule.
Sabina Azimova, among U-20 young females, earned the gold medal with a total of 170kg (70+100) result and 246.30 points. Anna Opanasyuk finished second, while Fidan Abdurrahmanova came third.
Firuza Ibrahimova, among U-23 young females, triumphed with a total of 177 kg (82+95) result and 236.88 points. Marziyya Maharramova was second, while Gunel Valiyeva took the third place.
The aim is the increasing and improving of athletes’ skill level, qualifying athletes who are technically trained and fulfilling their degree norms, determining the composition of National teams, preparing for the following international competitions.
